The Only Thing Missing Was LaserTag

We’re all individuals.  That’s one of those phrases that’s bandied about to euphemise the fact that some people are just a bit weird.  In most cases it’s not that they’re weird per se, it’s just that their personal make-up is slightly skewed compared to the norm. [But then there are those who a just plain weird and who are normally differentiated by the use of italics, y’know weird folks.]  Take my make-up for example:

Me_PieStyleThe fact that I displayed it in graphical form is slightly weird [no italics] but then that’s because the “nerd” segment is quite a big bite of the pie chart.

As we’re all different, all made up of different proportions of different personality types, it can be difficult to find that perfect thing which makes an individual’s perfect moment.  You may find that while something is particularly heavy in nerdiness, that it’s lacking in that tiny sliver of swashbucklin’ which makes it so exquisitely and individually you.

[This is all leading somewhere, bear with me.]

The Boyf managed it.  We had a looong weekend [which took place mid-week, but that’s neither here nor there] where – for my birthday – he checked all the boxes, munched from each segment of the pie, done-ed it all well good.

The nerd was sated with photographic exhibits, natural sciences, optical illusions and Neverwhere on DVD; the hipster with a purple ukulele and an indie Zooey Deschenal movie, the emo with a damp seaside town and manga-fication, the nine year old kid with monkeys and lions and tigers and penguins, the girly girl with a baby animals [aww look at the ikkle warthogs] and a cuddly pachyderm, the literati darling adored the steampunky YA novel and as for the swashbucklin’ pirate, well, you can’t possibly go wrong with Treasure Island-themed crazy golf.

I even got to be the annoying girl with the camera taking faux arty-farty shots of the whole thing:

And finally, the girly-girl romantic pops her head up to say: and the best thing about the whole thing?  It was all with him.
